1. NSSLHA Professional Development Series
Session 1:
How to Interview and Negotiate for Your First Professional Position
9:00 a.m.–10:15 a.m.
This session will review important issues to consider when interviewing for a job. Guidance regarding the preparation for the interview, interviewing skills, important "dos" and "don'ts" to consider during the interview, and information regarding salary negotiation will be considered.
Session 2:
Where Do I Want to Work?
10:30 a.m.–12:00 noon
This interactive forum will provide an opportunity to have questions answered about what a particular work setting is really like and what professionals are looking for when hiring. Panelists from various SLP and audiology settings will discuss the unique challenges of these settings and the specialized knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies related to these work environments.
Session 3:
Money for School: Where to Find It, How to Get It
9:00 a.m.–10:15 a.m.
This session will cover information regarding federal money (FASA, Federal loans, loan forgiveness programs, etc.) and private money (private/foundation funding, grants, outside scholarships, etc.) used to pay for various school bills (tuition, housing, books, etc.).
Session 4:
Graduate Programs: How to Find Them, What to Look For
10:30 a.m.–12:00 noon
This interactive forum will provide an opportunity to have questions answered about how to search for graduate programs (Masters, AuD, and PhD) and questions that are important to have answered when searching for a school.
2. Graduate School Fair

Students and professionals may meet with representatives from over 90 programs discussing enrollment opportunities at over 225 degree programs.

Academic programs may register to exhibit at the Graduate School Fair until October 17, 2008.
3. NSSLHA Luncheon and Awards Ceremony
12:00 noon–1:15 p.m.
Students! Faculty Advisors! Clinical Fellows! Join the NSSLHA Executive Council and celebrate the accomplishments of the recipients of the 2008 NSSLHA Honors Program. You'll meet the NSSLHA Award recipients, enjoy lunch and meet students from all over the country. Get to know your Regional Councilor, share ideas, and enjoy the camaraderie of other pre-professionals.

4. Battle of the Regions: NSSLHA Knowledge Bowl
1:15 p.m.–2:00 p.m.
Yes, that's right. NSSLHA is holding it's first ever Knowledge Bowl! Watch as each of the 10 NSSLHA regions battle it out through a friendly competition based on Praxis Exam questions. Wear your region's color, make signs, create cheers, and come support your team.

5. Resumé Review
Location: ASHA Career Fair
Do you have a resume, but you would like a professional to read it over? Sign-up in advance for a 15 minute time slot or just show-up and wait for the next available time slot to meet with a professional who can help you look over your resume at the Career Fair. It is expected that all participants will have at least a basic form of a resume started.
