NSSLHA Chapter Honors are awarded to the NSSLHA chapter that demonstrates a significant combination of: an awareness of student issues and concerns, outreach to the community, educational opportunities, and social and fund-raising activities promoting both the professions and national NSSLHA.
The recipient of the Chapter of the Year award receives:
- A $500 stipend and a plaque presented at the NSSLHA Leadership event during NSSLHA Day at the ASHA Convention.
The nominating procedures for this award are simple:
- Complete the Honors Program Application Online.
- Include a statement indicating the reason for nominating the chapter (please limit statements to no more than 500 words). State the pertinent activities and/or contributions that you believe make this chapter an ideal candidate. Make certain to include the chapter's accomplishments in the areas of membership recruitment (tell us how many national and local members you recruit annually and how), fundraising, community outreach and/or advocacy. Nominees that have received an award within the last 5 years are ineligible for consideration.
- The deadline for this nomination is January 31st. Nominations must be received in the national office by the deadline date or they will not be considered.
- Nominations will be accepted electronically ONLY.
- It is not necessary to include brochures, articles, videos, or other attachments to support the nomination.
- The Chapter or University logo is appreciated but not required. Electronic photographs are preferred (see guideline below).
