1. What is the difference between being a member of the local chapter and the national association?

Membership at the local level affords the student with any and all benefits provided to local members. 

Membership in the national association affords the student with access to a multitude of benefits. View the list of benefits of national membership available to students. Access to these benefits is restricted to students with national membership only.

2. If I join the local chapter will I receive the national membership benefits?

A student that joins the local chapter and not the national association is not eligible to receive the benefits of national membership.

Membership in the national association does not guarantee access to local chapter benefits. However most chapters will extend additional privileges to students that have membership in both.

Local chapters maintain a separate membership process from the national association. Students interested in joining the local chapter should contact their NSSLHA representatives.

7. How do I apply for national membership?

Applying for national membership is easy:

  • Download a NSSLHA Membership Brochure and Application [PDF]
  • Mail the application with a check, money order, or credit card information to NSSLHA, P.O. Box 1160 #450, Rockville, Maryland 20850.
  • Call the Action Center at 800-498-2071 and apply over the telephone with an Action Center Specialist between 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily with a major credit card (Visa or MasterCard only).
