1. What is a Regional Project?
A Regional Project is defined by the NSSLHA Executive Council as "any educationally oriented project designated by students within a given NSSLHA region that benefits the students of that region."

2. What are the guidelines for receiving funding?
- Regional Project Grant Awards are considered "bridge" funding for a project. This means that funding priority is given to those projects that are most in need of financial assistance.
- A local NSSLHA chapter applying for funding must be in good standing with the National Office and be able to prove that at least 50% of the local chapter members have national membership in NSSLHA.
- Only one grant is awarded each calendar year in the same region.
- If awarded a grant, ALL NSSLHA chapters located within the project region must be invited to participate in the activity. You may contact the National Office to receive a mailing list of NSSLHA chapters in your region.
- If the project is a seminar or a conference, a representative assigned by the NSSLHA Executive Council should be invited to attend and allowed a short time to speak during the program.
- Grant applications must be submitted on or before the deadline date. Applications received after the deadline date will not be considered for funding.

6. How are grant recipients notified of award?
Chapters that are awarded funds receive a letter of grant award, a check for half of the awarded amount, and guidelines for the End of Grant Report [PDF] to be returned to the national office at the completion of the event.

7. How are grant funds disbursed?
Half of the grant funds are disbursed when the application is approved. Once the activity is completed, the recipient has thirty days to submit an End of Grant Report [PDF], which includes the project description, program evaluation [PDF], and a final financial statement, to the National Office. Upon receipt of the End of Grant report, a check request will be issued for the balance of the grant funds.

8. Helpful tips for a successful Regional Project application
- Prepare your application materials using a wordprocessing software like MS-Word and then cut & paste the text into the application. Be certain to correct any spelling and grammatical errors.
- Make contact with the regional councilor in the area of application. The councilor can provide support for the application during the council discussion. It is always wise to keep the regional councilor informed about activities in their region and to seek their support. Contact information to regional councilors is available on the NSSLHA Web site.
- The purpose of the project is very important. The NSSLHA Executive Council looks for projects that encourage students to develop skills or gain knowledge relating to the discipline of human communication sciences and disorders.
- The Executive Council also favors applications and/or activities that are prepared and coordinated by students.
