Special Interest Division News and Events

Announcements

Attention: Special Interest Division Affiliates

Perspectives, the division member publication, is now an Internet-only publication
offered through Stanford University's HighWire Press!

If you already access the ASHA Journals through HighWire Press, you do not need to do anything further. If you have never registered for online Journal access, you are urged to activate your HighWire account. Use your ASHA ID (the number on your card and on journal) to activate. Only by activating your HighWire account will you be able to access the full text of articles published in your division's Perspectives.

Please note that once you have activated your HighWire account, you will use the ID and password you chose for your HighWire account (not your ASHA ID) to access full text content of Perspectives.

If you receive a message that states "The Customer Number that you have given has already been activated," then you just need to use your HighWire ID and password to see full text.

March, April, June, July, and August issues are now available for viewing!

Two Divisions join self-study CE Program!

Division 4, Fluency and Fluency Disorders and Division 10, Issues in Higher Education have been approved as ASHA CE Providers.

All 16 Special Interest Divisions now offer their affiliates the opportunity to earn ASHA CEUs through self-study of CE content published online in their member publication, Perspectives.

CE Program online only in 2008!

In response to affiliates' requests, Divisions offering affiliates the opportunity to earn CEUs for self-study of Perspectives (the Division member publication) instituted a new program in 2007 that offered electronic submission of CE forms for a modest processing fee of $5 per issue.

In 2008, all paper forms have been eliminated to make the CE program more environmentally friendly and provide benefits not available under a paper-based system. Affiliates can:

    • Submit responses electronically
    • Receive immediate feedback, including information on answers missed (provided they receive a passing score)
    • Get a Certificate of Completion online
    • Have the opportunity to retake the test, if they fail to get a passing score on the first try
