Awards Ceremony

Annie Glenn and Senator John GlennFriday, November 14
6:00–7:30 pm
McCormick Place
Arie Crown Theater

We invite you to join us for this prestigious event honoring lifetime achievement and excellence in our professions. The evening begins with the presentation of the Honors of the Association, ASHA’s most prestigious award that highlights the lifetime achievements of ASHA members. The ASHA Fellows, whose contributions are the cornerstones of the professions, are also presented. Also celebrated are the recipients of the ASHA Distinguished Service Award; the Dorothy Dreyer Award for Volunteerism; the Award for Special Contributions in Multicultural Affairs, the ASHA Editors’ Awards, and the NSSLHA Honors.

We are proud to announce that, beginning this year, the Annie Glenn Award will be presented at the Awards Ceremony. Annie Glenn (wife of Senator John Glenn) is known nationwide as a tireless advocate for people with communication disorders. After receiving professional help for her stuttering, Mrs. Glenn dedicated herself to helping others with communication disorders. In her honor, ASHA established the “Annie” in 1987. From 1987–2002 the honor was given at the annual National Council on Communication Disorders awards ceremony. The award is given to the person who best exemplifies Mrs. Glenn’s own invincible spirit.

The Glenns have been strong supporters of ASHA—and we are honored that Senator and Mrs. Glenn will be with us to present this award. Please join us as we welcome them to their first ASHA Convention!

Join us for this inspiring evening, as we honor the accomplishments of our colleagues and celebrate the value of the work that we do every day. Following the awards ceremony there will be an informal meet and greet with the award recipients in the lobby of the theater. Plan to stay and offer your congratulations to your colleagues. Cash bars and light refreshments will be available.
