Thursday, November 18
8:00–9:30 pm
Philadelphia Marriott Hotel
Room TBA

You have an opportunity to take part in changing a 20+ year tradition, right here at the ASHA Convention. If you recognize the impact of culture on the professions, have an interest in multicultural issues, work with individuals from culturally or linguistically diverse populations, and/or are a member of a culturally diverse group, come help celebrate diversity and change. For over 20 years, ASHA has held the Multicultural Concerns Collective (MC2) meeting on Friday evenings during the Convention. This year, however, the MC2 Meeting will be held Thursday, November 18, from 8:00–9:30 pm.

The MC2 meeting began as a network of state representatives who came together at the Convention to share information and exchange strategies for advancing professional issues related to racial/ethnic minority populations. In recent years, the meeting has evolved into a cultural exchange that allows networking opportunities and a celebration of the breadth of diversity of the ASHA membership. Establish your own new tradition by attending the MC2 meeting and join in on what’s been characterized as one of the most vibrant and lively meetings of the Convention!

Artful Fundraising

Get ready for some artful fundraising to benefit the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation!

Did you know that Philadelphia is famous for promoting the important role that public art plays in the creation and enhancement of civic spaces? Through diverse programs of planning and commissioning public art, Philadelphia is host to thousands of public art projects.

This year, the ASHFoundation has its very own piece of artwork, created by a former Foundation and ASHA president...and a serious artist, Dr. Frank Kleffner. Kleffner’s bronze sculpture shown on this page will be raffled off during the 2004 ASHA Convention in Philadelphia. Entitled Accord, the artwork is 16 inches high and has a purchase price of $2,800. This beautifully detailed sculpture will be on view near the ASHA exhibit area of the Philadelphia Convention Center.

Kleffner has been an ASHA member since 1952, serving as its president in 1970 and as president of the ASHFoundation in 1981–84. He received the Honors of the Association in 1985. In recognition of his scientific, clinical, and professional contributions, the Foundation established the Frank R. Kleffner Clinical Career Award in 1985 to be granted annually at its Founders Breakfast. Visit www.ashfoundation.org (new window) recipients to view Kleffner award winners from 1986 to present.

Don’t miss this chance to win a fabulous signature sculpture by Frank Kleffner and support the mission of the ASHFoundation! Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Foundation booth in the Convention Exhibit Hall.
