Sample Thank You Notes

1. Thank you note for a Representative on SLP Supplier Status

Thank you for meeting with me on [date] to discuss H.R. 1774, legislation that would provide speech-language pathologists (SLPs) with a Medicare outpatient supplier number and allow us to bill Medicare from a private practice.

SLPs already have the right to directly bill Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and most private health plans, however only other rehabilitation professionals, such as physical and occupational therapists, have the right to bill Medicare directly.

H.R. 1774 would ensure that Medicare patients have greater access and choice because these patients would be able to seek care from private-practice SLPs.

Please co-sponsor this important legislation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

2. Thank you note for a Senator on SLP Supplier Status

Thank you for meeting with me on [date] to discuss S. 45, legislation that would provide speech-language pathologists (SLPs) with a Medicare outpatient supplier number and allow us to bill Medicare from a private practice.

SLPs already have the right to directly bill Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and most private health plans, however only other rehabilitation professionals, such as physical and occupational therapists, have the right to bill Medicare directly.
