Initial Licensure Requirements
- Must be over 21 years old
- Master's degree from an accredited educational institution or equivalent training and experience (see NRS 637B.160 subsection 2 for equivalent definition)
- Three hundred clock hour clinical practicum
- Passage of an examination
Note: No postgraduate professional experience is required.
Exemptions
- Physicians or persons under the direct supervision of a physician
- Hearing aid specialists
- Persons credentialed by the state Department of Education
- Federal employees and the Department of Health and Human Services
- Graduate student intern, pursuing a graduate degree in audiology or speech-language pathology
- Registered nurses employed as school nurse
- Current certificate holders from Council on the Education of the Deaf and working as a teacher of the deaf and who does not engage in private practice in Nevada
Reciprocity/Endorsement
The Board may waive the examination requirement to persons who:
- Are licensed in a state in which the licensing requirements at the time the license was issued are substantially equivalent to this chapter
or
- CCC holders
Interim Practice/Temporary Licensure
The Board shall issue a temporary license to persons licensed in another state upon application and payment of the fee who meet all requirements for licensure in this state except for passing the examination; such license is valid until the Board publishes the results of the next exam.
Continuing Education for Licensure Renewal
Fifteen hours per annual renewal cycle; may not carry over excess credits from one renewal period to another.
Hearing Aid Dispensing
Audiologists who dispense must obtain an Hearing Aid Specialist license.

Board Composition
The Board shall comprise five members appointed by the Governor; there shall be two licensed or CCC-holding speech-language pathologists in practice for 2 years or more; one licensed or CCC-holding audiologist in practice for 2 years or more; one physician member certified as a specialist in otolaryngology, pediatrics, or neurology; and one member who is a representative of the general public.
