Initial Licensure Requirements
- A master's degree or doctoral degree in audiology or speech-language pathology from an educational institution approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or the American Board of Audiology (ABA)
- Completion of a supervised clinical practicum
- Completion of a period of postgraduate professional training, the length and content of which shall comply with standards established by ASHA or ABA
- Passing scores on the Praxis II examination or other examination in audiology or speech-language pathology selected by the State Board
or
- ASHA CCC's or ABA certification
Note: As of June 30, 2008 all speech language pathologists and audiologists must have a clinical license from the VT Department of Education; those working in schools must obtain an Educational Speech Language Pathology endorsement on the clinical license.
Exemptions
- Students clearly designated as trainee participating in a supervised course of study
- Hearing aid dispensers
- Licensed persons from performing services within their scope of practice

Interim Practice/Temporary Licensure
Two-year provisional licenses may be granted to audiology and speech-language pathology graduates who have met all the requirements for licensure except for completing the clinical fellowship.
Continuing Education for Licensure Renewal
Thirty hours of continuing education per 3 year licensing period.
Hearing Aid Dispensing
Audiologists may dispense under an audiology license.

Board Composition
The Secretary, in consultation with the Commissioner of Education shall appoint two advisors. One advisor shall be a licensed speech-language pathologist and one advisor shall be a licensed audiologist. Advisors shall have not less than 3 years of experience immediately preceding appointment and shall be actively engaged in the practice of audiology or speech-language pathology in Vermont during incumbency.
