Certification Maintenance Fact Sheets

Basic Requirements for Maintaining the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) and Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
The Certification Maintenance Standards require that all certificate holders must accumulate 30 Certification Maintenance Hours (CMH) of professional development during each 3-year certification maintenance interval in order to maintain their certification (CCC-A, CCC-SLP). This fact sheet provides basic information on CMHs; ASHA CEUs; how to combine ASHA CEUs, CMHs, and/or academic credit to meet the requirement; and the 3-year maintenance intervals as determined by one's initial certification date.

This fact sheet provides information for continuing education providers who are not ASHA-approved CE Providers. It includes basic requirements for ASHA certificate holders, the difference between ASHA CEU and Certification Maintenance Hours (CMH), record keeping and reporting responsibilities for the provider and for the certificate holder, and language the provider can use in promoting its continuing education activities to ASHA certificate holders who want to maintain their ASHA certification.
