Effective 2007 for Audiology

Speech-Language Pathology

Effective January 1, 2006, applicants for certification in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) must apply under the 2005 Standards for Certification in Speech-Language Pathology standards. Applications received after January 1, 2006, will be evaluated against the 2005 SLP certification standards.

Note: The implementation language in the new speech-language pathology standards makes reference to the Knowledge and Skills Acquisition Summary (KASA) form for Certification in Speech-Language Pathology [PDF] that will be used by students and programs to track the student's acquisition of the requisite knowledge and skills for ASHA certification.

Audiology

Applications received on or after January 1, 2008, will be evaluated against the 2007 audiology certification standards.

Notes

The implementation language in the new audiology standards makes reference to the Knowledge and Skills Acquisition Summary (KASA) form for Certification in Audiology [PDF] that will be used by students and programs to track the student's acquisition of the requisite knowledge and skills for ASHA certification.

Additional information on expectations for certification applicants and graduate programs related to the implementation of the new certification standards in both audiology (CCC-A) and speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) is contained in a joint statement issued by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) and Council For Clinical Certification (CFCC).
