Executive Director
Title: Executive Director, National Student Speech Language Hearing Association
Qualifications: Member, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Term of Office: July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2013
Requirements
- The Executive Director must have flexibility in his/her professional calendar to devote several hours per week to NSSLHA business and activities.
- The Executive Director must have the support (including appropriate release time) from his/her employer to carry out the responsibilities of this position during the year.
- The Executive Director must possess excellent leadership and strong organization skills with the ability to coordinate activities and/or chair committees or task forces.
- The Executive Director must be able to relate well to students and other professionals.
- The Executive Director must have a working knowledge of basic business and administrative principles and procedures.
- The Executive Director must be in a position to accept additional professional responsibilities related to the goals and objectives of NSSLHA.
- The Executive Director must be able to devote most of his/her time at the annual ASHA Convention to NSSLHA meetings.
- The Executive Director must be a member of ASHA.
- The Executive Director must have had experience as a NSSLHA chapter advisor or as a faculty advisor to students.
Responsibilities
- Chief administrative officer of NSSLHA
- Chief financial officer of NSSLHA
- Oversee coordination of all NSSLHA activities
- Liaison between NSSLHA and ASHA
- Empowered to contract services for NSSLHA
- Keeps Executive Council and membership informed of NSSLHA activities
- Provides agenda for Council meetings
- Represents NSSLHA at selected activities
- Carries out other responsibilities as directed by the Executive Council
Compensation
- Opportunity to work with students of highest caliber
- Stipend of $400.00 per month
- Reimbursement for reasonable hotel and transportation expenses to fall and spring meetings or other association related travel
Selection Process
The candidate(s) for Executive Director will interview with the NSSLHA Executive Council at its meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana in November 2009. All applicants will be notified of the results by January 2010.
