NSSLHA is Accepting Applications for Regional Councilor

Applications for Regional Councilor are being accepted from NSSLHA members enrolled in a CSD program in the following regions:

Region 2: New York, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Israel

Region 5: Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland , New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia

Region 7: Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin

Region 8: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri

Region 10: Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia

Applying for a Regional Councilor position is simple:

  • New! Complete the RC Application formĀ online!
  • Complete the Application as instructed. Have questions about the position? Read FAQs about the NSSLHA Executive Council.
  • Submit the application and any attachments (including the letters of recommendation) electronically to the National Office at nsslhaprograms@asha.org by the deadline date of April 19, 2010. Type "Regional Councilor Application" in the subject line.

You should consider applying if you are:

  • A current member of the national association. Membership on the local level does not qualify.
  • Majoring in human communication sciences and disorders or a related disorder.
  • Eligible for NSSLHA membership during the two-year term of office. (You may apply even if you will enter a CFY by the end of your term).
  • Able to serve as a NSSLHA regional councilor for the entire two-year term of office.

Any student that wants a chance to impact the future of the professions should consider a position on the Executive Council. Here are some of the benefits of participation:

  • Regional Councilors are directly involved with policies affecting students in CSD programs.
  • Regional Councilors gain valuable leadership experience and skills early in your academic/professional career.

  • Regional Councilors receive transportation, hotel, and meals to attend meetings during the ASHA Convention and to the national office in Rockville, Maryland in the spring.
  • Being a Regional Councilor is a fun and rewarding experience for students interested in enhancing their knowledge and involvement on a national level in the profession.
