I joined NSSLHA because: I joined NSSLHA because as a graduate student, I believe that staying informed on the current event issues that are presently going on in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders is essential throughout my collegiate career. As a member of NSSLHA I have been able to access ASHA Journals that enabled me to achieve numerous projects and acquired additional information that assisted me strengthening my knowledge in this dynamic field.

NSSLHA has also informed me on the conferences and special events that are held throughout the year. Discounts are given to members who wish to attend the conferences. I recently attended the ASHA Conference held in New Orleans. As a graduate student, it was an incredible experience that involved networking with students and professionals in the CSD field, information on current research being conducted (poster board presentations), short classes (assist professionals in obtaining their CEU's), and most importantly, it reminded me how much of an impact a Speech Language Pathologist makes in one's life.

I applied for a position on the NSSLHA Executive Council because: I decided to apply for the position on the NSSLHA Executive Council because of the countless opportunities it offers to a young woman that is greatly passionate about the field of Speech and Language Pathology. This position will not only assist me in strengthening my leadership skills, but it will also contribute to my success in the field of Speech and Language Pathology by keeping me motivated and focused.

Being involved in the policies that affect the students in the CSD program, attending the mandatory meetings and conferences, and serving as the liaison between local chapters, advisors, and students is something that I look forward in doing because I will not only give back to my field, but all this will also prepare me for the real world and the career that I wish to have in the near future. Similar to all the goals I have achieved throughout my life, I plan on giving my 110% effort into all the work given to me as the Region 2 Executive Council.

During my two-year term on the council, I will be successful if I accomplish: In the course of my two-year term on the council, I will be successful if I fulfill the roles of what the position on the NSSLHA Executive Council entails. I am fully aware of all the responsibilities and obligations that are required of me and am looking forward to providing the council with my hard work and dedication to a successful two-year term. Serving as the liaison (between the chapter presidents, advisors, and members), representing the students when issues are discussed, attending all meetings and conventions, succeeding in writing three regional newspapers, and completing all tasks that are asked of me will make me a successful Region 2 Regional Councilor.

My vision for Region 2 is: My vision for my region is to build a stronger bond and relationship between the chapter presidents, advisors, and members. A stronger relationship between all will guarantee communication and feedback that is needed in order to make a difference and possible changes to create a better environment for students in the CSD program. Furthermore, my vision for my region is to assure all that the Executive Councilor for Region 2 is here to support and help them move forward in their academic career and life.
