Region 4: NSSLHA Chapter of University of Cincinnati
The University of Cincinnati (UC) NSSLHA chapter's advisor, Carney Sotto, PhD, CCC-SLP, was awarded the 2010 Outstanding Adjunct Award for her exemplary service to the University's Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the UC College of Allied Health Sciences.
Dr. Sotto is currently the Director of the CSD Undergraduate degree program and the College of Allied Health Sciences "First Year Experience" (FYE) program for first year students. Dr. Sotto became an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati in 1998 and has been the NSSLHA chapter's advisor since 2001. Dr. Sotto was awarded the NSSLHA Chapter Advisor of the Year Honors at the NSSLHA Awards Ceremony during the 2003 ASHA Convention in Chicago, Illinois. Regarding Dr. Sotto, former student Sharon Burwinkel, 2002-2003 UC NSSLHA Chapter President, wrote: "Dr. Sotto is exactly the kind of faculty member and NSSLHA advisor that is needed to support efforts to recruit and retain students in the professions...She has lighted a spark for our NSSLHA chapter."
