What are the system requirements for using the ASHA eLearning classroom?
Requirements vary by program. See program description in the ASHA store for details. General guidelines are provided below.
Site registration is required for all ASHA eLearning programs.
Web site visitors who wish to create a username and password for ASHA.org are required to supply a valid e-mail address when they register. This is done for several reasons:
- Allows you to receive password reminders via e-mail if you happen to forget your password;
- Allows you to receive subscriptions to notifications for various portions of the ASHA Web site;
- Enables ASHA to contact you for administrative purposes relative to your Web account and/or changes to ASHA's Web-based services.
ASHA will not share your e-mail address with other companies. Communications considered to be member benefits (such as electronic newsletters) may be sent to you on an opt-out basis. All other communications will be strictly opt-in and will require action on your part in order to subscribe to them.
PDF Documents
The ASHA eLearning classroom makes extensive use of journal articles in PDF format. This format allows documents to be downloaded and printed with their original formatting intact. These files require the Adobe Acrobat® reader (Version 6.0 or greater) to be viewed and printed. This reader is free and may be downloaded from the Adobe Web site.

Why does one of the links embedded in the course material not work/bring up a "page not found" error?
Please contact ASHA Professional Development at 1-800-498-2071 ext. 8593 or elearning@asha.org.
When I click the exam link, the login screen appears but it won't accept my username and password. Why?
Go to the Technical Support page and submit the APD tech support form.
When I click the exam link, there are no tests available to me. Why?
This error is usually caused by attempting to access a test more than three times. If you have this problem and have not used all three attempts, please contact ASHA Professional Development.
1-800-498-2071 ext. 8593 or elearning@asha.org.
Can I complete the online test in more than one sitting?
No, the testing software does not allow you to save a test in progress. When you log into an test, it will be counted against your three try limit. A copy of the test questions is available for review for all ASHA eLearning self-studies.
Why won't the course video clips play on my computer?
You may not have the proper players installed or your internet connection may not be fast enough. For more information refer to the answer under "What are the system requirements for using the ASHA eLearning self-studies?"
The pop-up windows in the course will not open on my computer?
If you have installed a plugin to block pop-up advertising on your browser, the pop-ups in this workshop will not work. You may choose to remove that plugin or set it to accept pop-ups from "www.asha.org" while completing the workshop.
Are there any guidelines for using the Discussion Forums?
ASHA's Live Web Workshops include threaded discussion forums. You will be familiar with this type of discussion if you have visited the discussion groups available in the member areas of the ASHA Web site.
How to keep the forum running smoothly:
Please do not post technical support questions to the forum. If you have questions that are internet or software related, please go to the eLearning technical support page and submit the tech support request form.
When posting messages, Do...
- Stay on topic.
- Post only messages that are relevant to the topics of the forum (use the "hallway" thread for non-course-related chat and networking).
- Remember, all messages are public and will be viewed by others.
- Familiarize yourself with the discussion group before posting messages. Check to make sure your question has not already been addressed.
When posting messages, Don't...
- Cross-post. Posting a message to more than one topic thread is unnecessary and creates extra traffic for you and others to sift through.
- Quote previous messages. Only quote when absolutely necessary.
Instructors reserve the right to delete or move (to a more appropriate thread) messages that do not follow these guidelines.
