Steps to Assembling Your Resume

1. Have your name, address, phone number(s) prominently displayed on your resume:

2. Briefly state your employment objective:
(State here the type of position you’re looking for. You may want this to be a very general statement, so it will fit a variety of jobs.)
For example:

Evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders with a preschool or school-age population in a clinical setting.

3. Provide information about your education and your certification:
(Start with your highest degree, university from which it was awarded, and date bestowed. Work backwards.)
For example:

2000-Present. Speech-Language Pathologist, Montgomery County, Maryland.

Provided evaluation and treatment of various types of communication disorders for school-age children. Served as a consultant in the development of a parent aid program. Designed and carried out in-service workshops to acquaint educators with special education resources.

Supervised a sheltered workshop program and recreational activities for adults (ages 17-35).
