Executive Council members in attendance were President Aivy Nguyen, President-Elect Allison Tran, Vice President for Finance Bridget Slagle, Vice President for Planning George ‘Ged’ Pearson, Vice President for Academic Affairs Harper French, Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy Chanel Hudson, Vice President for Programming (AuD) Katie Kingsbury, Vice President for Programming (SLP) Kennedy Wilkins, Vice President for Student State Officers (Western Region) Lucy Carvalho, Vice President for Student State Officers (Central Region) Carolyn Sinak, Vice President for Student State Officers (Northeastern Region) Aliyah Hodges, Vice President for Student State Officers (Southern Region) Lillian Jones, and NSSLHA National Advisor Dr. Belinda Daughrity.
NSSLHA Senior Director Alexis Redmond, ASHA Chief Staff Officer for Operations Kyle Vickers, ASHA Chief Executive Officer Vicki Deal-Williams, ASHA President Tena McNamara, ASHA President-Elect Bernadette Mayfield-Clarke, ASHA Past President Robert Augustine, and the 2025 ASHA Convention Co-Chair Kia Johnson were in attendance.
Opening Remarks
The Fall 2024 NSSLHA EC business meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, by President Aivy Nguyen.
Leadership Activity
Tran led the group in a team building icebreaker activity.
Convention Debrief
Wilkins led a debrief with all EC members to identify the high, low, and buffalo of their ASHA Convention experience.
Strategic Plan Update
Pearson led the group in a discussion of the next steps for the 2024-2026 strategic plan. The group brainstormed ways to make progress on the plan in 2025.
Leadership Activity
Nguyen led the group in a gratitude and leadership development activity.
ASHA 2025 Convention Co-Chairs Update
The Convention Co-Chair, Kia Johnson joined the meeting to share plans for the 2025 Convention in Washington, DC and led a discussion about involving students.
ASHA Presidential Team Update
ASHA President Tena McNamara, ASHA President-Elect Bernadette Mayfield-Clarke, ASHA Past President Robert Augustine, ASHA Chief Staff Officer for Operations, Kyle Vickers and Chief Executive Officer Vicki Deal-Williams joined the meeting to discuss current activities at ASHA and gave advice on navigating the leadership pipeline.
